How the calculation works
A full 2400 × 1200 mm sheet covers 2.88 m². The calculator divides each area by the sheet size, adds your waste allowance and rounds up to whole sheets, then adds screws and, if selected, tape and finish plaster.
Different rooms need different boards: moisture-resistant for bathrooms and kitchens, fire-rated where regulations require it, and acoustic boards to cut noise between rooms.
Fixing tips
Screw boards to studs or joists at regular centres, usually about every 300 mm for walls and closer on ceilings. Stagger joints between rows for a stronger, flatter finish.
